The Lions Club of Devizes is a Registered Charity No.
1026909 Chartered 1970 (District 105W) and twinned with
Mayenne in France.
The Lions thank the people of Devizes and all those
who helped and supported us in our fund raising and continue to do so.
We invite organisations and individuals to take part and raise money for their own charities or other good causes.
On the other hand, if they would like their sponsorship money to come to the Lions Club of Devizes for distribution to local charities, that would be most welcome.
We will provide the sponsorship forms and administration and ask that all sponsorship money comes initially to the Lions Club.
All the money raised will be returned to the relevant charities or organisations at a presentation evening, the date and venue of which will be announced later. If you would like to participate, contact Lion David Dolman on 01380 721510 and let him know how many sponsorship cards you think you will need.
There will be room for 12 sponsors to sign each card.
Lions are members of Lions Clubs International, a community service organisation
dedicated to the idea that the men and women who live in a community are in the best
position to know who needs help and why. Local Clubs are part of the world's largest such
organization, with 1.4 million members serving in more than 180 countries and areas of the world. The
association is both non-political and non-sectarian.
Latest News:
Lion Peter Blockley has taken over as President of the Lions Club of Devizes from Lion Roger Mapp who has successfully steered the Club for the past twelve months.
During Roger’s year in office, the Club raised nearly £20,000 which it distributed to needy causes,
predominately locally but elsewhere when disasters struck, as in Cumbria and Haiti.
Peter aims to ensure that Lions continue to host the regular fund-raising and enabling activities,
so the year’s programme includes the popular Sponsored Walk, Christmas Fair, Santa’s float, May Fair, Swimarathon and Sports Coaching weekend.
Peter has chosen The Crown Centre in Devizes as the Presidential Charity this year,
the Crown Centre is used by many voluntary bodies in the town and the central entrance passageway is in desperate need of repair.
Peter wishes the people of Devizes and surrounding villages to know how much the Lions appreciate their support,
and he hopes that this will continue during his year in office.
At the June 2010 Presentation Evening Lion Roger presented cheques to a value of over £12,000 to over forty, most local, organisations.
